James Gunn’s 2025 Superman film opened to 125 million dollars domestically and grossed 618 million worldwide, setting a benchmark Supergirl is not currently approaching.
The central question remains whether Nolan’s reputation can weather the storm. His track record, including The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk, and Oppenheimer, has built enormous audience trust. No other living director commands that kind of goodwill.
