He is set to star as Ebenezer Scrooge in a dark adaptation of A Christmas Carol, scheduled for release on November 13, 2026. The film marks his first major American studio lead role since the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Depp is also attached to star alongside Penelope Cruz and Madeline Cline in the thriller Daydrinker, playing a mysterious figure on a yacht.
